Kerala Legislative Assembly Speaker A. N. Shamseer lauded Missouri City Mayor Robin Elackatt as a source of pride for the global Malayalee community, following Elackatt ‘s second term victory in the Missouri City mayoral election in Texas. Speaker Shamseer congratulated and honored Mayor Elackatt with a ‘ponnada’ (shawl) in the Assembly chamber during his visit. Also present, Local Self-Government and Excise Minister and former Speaker M. B. Rajesh also bestowed a ‘ponnada’ upon Mayor Elackatt.
Mayor Elackatt, who achieved his prominent position in the diaspora through dedicated effort, received a special award from the Kerala Legislative Assembly presented by Speaker Shamseer. During the felicitation ceremony, Adv. Mons Joseph MLA, former Minister and MLA from Kaduthuruthy, offered a bouquet and congratulations. Adv. Mons Joseph also presented a ‘Mangala Patram’ (citation) highlighting Elackatt ‘s journey from his birthplace, Kurumulloor village in Kaduthuruthy constituency, Kottayam district, to becoming the Mayor of Missouri City.
During his visit to the Assembly, Mayor Elackatt met with several dignitaries, including Minister for Water Resources Roshy Augustine, Minister of Land Revenue K. Rajan, Minister for Agriculture P. Prasad, Leader of the Opposition V. D. Satheesan, former Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala MLA, Dr. Mathew Kuzhalnadan MLA, former Minister P. J. Joseph MLA, and Anoop Jacob MLA. Prayatna Director Dr. Joseph Sunny Kunnassery also participated in various ceremonies with the Mayor.
