Missouri City Mayor Robin J. Elackatt Visits Prayatna child development center, Discusses Inclusive Education and Accessibility

Robin J. Elackatt, the 12th mayor of Missouri City, Texas, USA, visited Prayatna today for a session with professionals of Prayatna.

Dr. Joseph Sunny Founder of Prayatna welcomed him. The discussion centered on the differences in inclusivity within schools in India and the United States, with a particular focus on special education units.

Mayor Robin Elackatt highlighted the prevalence of special education units in all US public schools, emphasizing that these units are funded through state and federal resources. A significant portion of these services, often 75% or more, are covered by insurance.

The conversation also touched upon accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Mayor Robin Elackatt described the rigorous approval process for new building construction, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards, including wheelchair ramps, appropriate ramp widths, elevators, and designated handicap parking spaces located at the front of buildings. He emphasized the commitment to making public places accessible to everyone.

He stressed the significance of customer satisfaction for Prayatna’s growth, noting that the organization serves not only children but also their families and parents. He congratulated the centre for its commendable services in the sector.
