Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala General Education Department has banned celebration in schools on the last day of SSLC and Plus Two exams.
The decision comes in the wake of recent incidents, including students allegedly using ganja during a farewell event in Kasaragod and a Class 10 student’s death following a clash in Thamarassery.
The directive was issued in a meeting chaired by General Education Director S. Shanavas.
The school management has been directed to ensure that students return home immediately after exams. The parents must also monitor whether their children reach home at the usual time. The students will not be allowed to remain on campus after their final exam. The department has instructed strict enforcement of the directive to prevent any untoward incidents.
Earlier, a Class 10 student passed away following a clash between students outside his school in Thamarassery, Kozhikode. Similar incidents have been reported across the state in recent months, some linked to drug use.
