“CPM is the only party that has taken a position saying the BJP is not a fascist party. It was the CPM that rejected the stand taken by General Secretary Sitaram Yechury that the BJP is a fascist party. And now, they are trying to teach us lessons on secularism,” Satheesan ridiculed Pinarayi.
Thiruvananthapuram: Coming out strongly against the criticisms leveled against the Congress by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Opposition Leader VD Satheesan stated that the only party that has compromised with the BJP is the CPI(M), the party of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He was responding to the allegations made by CM Pinarayi Vijayan in an article written in the CPM mouthpiece Desabhimani during a press conference.
At the national level, it is the Congress that strongly opposes the BJP. Rahul Gandhi is moving forward with a position that does not compromise with the RSS. Where has he compromised? Where has Congress compromised with the BJP?
“The party that has compromised with the BJP is Pinarayi Vijayan’s party. While all other BJP opposition parties in India have taken a firm stance that Narendra Modi’s government is a fascist government, the CPM is the only party that has taken a position saying the BJP is not a fascist party. It was the CPM that rejected the stand taken by General Secretary Sitaram Yechury that the BJP is a fascist party. And now, they are trying to teach us lessons on secularism,” Satheesan ridiculed Pinarayi.
The main criticism leveled by Pinarayi Vijayan in his article was that Congress takes an arrogant stand towards other opposition parties that oppose the BJP. In his article, Pinarayi criticised that Congress had never hesitated to form alliances with communal forces, both overtly and covertly, to defeat the secular Left in the past on many occasions. Considering their dubious track record regarding the fight against communalism, how can secular, democratic forces, and minorities trust Congress? asked Pinarayi in his article.
He also urged parties like the Muslim League to rethink their alliance with Congress, as it was Congress that had ensured the victory of the BJP in Delhi and Haryana.
