Three injured as leaking gas pipeline catches fire in Mumbai

Three individuals suffered burn injuries after a gas pipeline leak caught fire in Mumbai’s Andheri area in the early hours of Sunday. The fire, which also damaged two vehicles, broke out at 12:35 am on a heavily leaking supply pipeline of Mahanagar Gas Limited, situated on a road at Sher-E-Punjab society, near a gurdwara at Takshila in Andheri (East).

The fire, classified as “level-one,” was confined to two moving vehicles, a fire official confirmed. Arvindkumar Kaithal (21), a two-wheeler rider, sustained 30 to 40 per cent burns, while another biker, Aman Harishankar Saroj (22), suffered 40 to 50 per cent burns. Auto-rickshaw driver Suresh Kailas Gupta (52) incurred 20 per cent burn injuries.

The injured were immediately rushed to the Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Care Centre in Jogeshwari for treatment. A water tanker, a fire engine, and other emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, and the fire was extinguished by 1:34 am.
